The House is Finally Clean

It was surreal and wonderful to host a party in my home among a collection of so many of the people who first awed me when I moved to this city. It’s rare that you get to be friends with the people who inspire you: Sarah Lewitinn and Josh Madden and Sophia Lamar hanging out in my bedroom; The Misshapes DJing in my living room; Nylon, the Village Voice, Paper, Gawker, Fashion Week Daily, and a whole parade of stunning bloggers taking pictures… Saturday was great. Kate said “way to get your house party written about in the Observer!” I’m so grateful for the help and the love everybody has given me.

I want to thank everybody involved in this show and this party, the photo subjects, and everyone who’s let me take their picture. It was a great success. Thank you infinitely to the people who went so far out of their way to help me out and give their time and energy: Geneva Simms, The Misshapes, Christian Siriano, Harold Joyce & Zygo Energy Vodka, Anna Rexia, Alana Jones-Mann, Kate McGivney, Jimmie D, Peter Pazdrowski, Aaron and Kill Shop Kill, Justin Beck and MerchDirect, Jessanne Collins and The Playgirls, Zach Palmer and Catherine and the L Magazine, everyone at Box Magazine, Jenny and In De Goot, Lorraine and Ian at The Musebox, Sarah Lewitinn and Stolen Transmission, J. Travis and NY Health and Racquet Club, David Persky and Indiepix, Delilah and Charlie on the door, Caitlyn on the bar, and Jasen upstairs; show subjects Agyness Deyn, Josh Madden, Gurj Bassi, Audrey Kitching, Adam Green, Cody & the Ssion, Xiaoting Luo, Jes Savage, Kathy Cacace, Michael Buchholz, Jake Sinclair, Freja Beha Erichsen, Peggy Noland, Cory Kennedy, Isabelle McNally, Mark Hunter, Jonny Makeup, Kate McGivney, TKOmri, Josh Becker & Dhani Mau, Sarah Adler & Katelyn Roof, Taylor Kane, Hannah Haddix, Mark Bosse, George Verger, Kit Williamson, Ollie Stone, and Ryann Donnelly. And thank you to my mom for not bombing the Cleveland airport when they cancelled her flight and stranded her 500 miles away from me the day of the show.

We tried to turn the TV on that night at midnight because we knew SNL was doing this, but we missed it and had to wait til the next day to catch it online. Cannot believe somebody’s job for a day was to make a wig for Amy Poehler to imitate my boyfriend on national television. HEY TRANNY! (IT’S TRANNY.)

Aww I’m glad the party went well! I can only imagine what you mean by having the people who awe you surround you. That’s pretty much exciting.

I didn’t catch SNL that night, but that’s pretty hilarious. Amy Poehler is a hot mess by herself.

i’m going to wear the coke shirt and carry the anna nicole bag through the airport on thursday morning and see if i get searched at the security security.

I remember when you first moved to this city. You were just a kid. You were always begging me to take you to Misshapes–so cute!
You would look at my photos on my photoblog (pythonserpent.com) and just sit for hours staring at the pretty faces that faced my lens. You told me you wanted to take pictures; I told you I believed in you. You told me you wanted to live in a cramped dorm room, just like me, but I said “no, no, move to Park Slope. It’s better to live 15 blocks from a subway and across from a plot of land filled with dead people, anyway.” I remember you always wanting to wear your American Eagle polo shirts to Home Sweet Home…I’m sure you still have them somewhere.
Now, look at you. Hosting fabulous parties, having your stuff appear in magazines, and still holding it down in Park Slope.
(Seriously though, I had so much fun at the party. I did take some time to look at the actual photos–it was really cool seeing them blown up, especially that one of Anna and her awesome face makeup. Mazel tov.)

Both on your ways to icon status. You’ve earned it. It’s been amazing to witness/be a part of the process.

And Christian was correct when he said I looked like a tranny in my brand new NY State Driver’s License. He only said what I was thinking.

You had a NIGHTLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY exhibit that got written up like crazy! To most people, nightlife photography is just about looking at pictures of themselves drunk at last night’s party. I think you’ve just raised the profile for all of us. THANK YOU!
